LeithLate is pleased to announce its latest public art initiative in Leith, part of the high-profile Mural Project, mentioned in the New York Times in 2016.

The latest mural in Leith was produced by The Too Much Fun Club, supported by The Friends of Pilrig Park, Leith Neighbourhood Partnership and Edinburgh Art Shop, and completed Thursday 11 MAY 2017. The Too Much Fun Club artists involved in the latest LeithLate mural are Nem Sarton, Ross MacRae, Shona Hardie and Ez Fordyce.

The Too Much Fun Club artists have been conducting workshops with the young people who attend Pilrig Park Special Secondary School and Pilmeny Youth Centre. The young people they have been working closely with have helped design Leith’s newest mural. The mural is located behind Pilrig Park School, in Pilrig Park.

Morvern Cunningham, LeithLate Director said:

“We were delighted to collaborate with the Too Much Fun Club and the Friends of Pilrig Park on this latest mural for Leith. We’ve been facilitating street artworks in Leith for the past 4 years now, and this is an excellent colourful addition to the growing number of artworks in the area. We hope that the young people involved and visitors enjoy our contribution to Pilrig Park.”

LeithLate- is a visual arts organisation based in Leith, responsible for various public art projects such as The Shutter Project and The Mural Project, and the annual LeithLate festival. LeithLate originated as a one-night event in 2011 that saw grassroots art spaces in Leith open their doors later than normal to showcase their exhibitions, alongside live music, spoken word performances and film screenings across a number of local businesses in the space of the same evening. The success of the first event prompted LeithLate’s evolution into an annual festival, now taking place over a four-day period in June.
