The Palin Effect

The Palin Effect* hit Ocean Terminal tonight when former Python, part time traveler, actor come writer Michael Palin stopped by for a signing of his latest Biography. With thanks to Waterstones I got a little more out of my childhood idol than a signed dedication (which, had I the balls, would have read: ‘from everyone’s favourite star of Monty Python – Eric Idle‘).
Posing for a few shots after, Palin was trademark jovial despite having just signed 100 or so books in rapid succession. I told him to smile as if he were in London “it’s Sunny in London!” he pined.
Michael’s entertaining career is one that – in this besotted python freak’s mind – deserves a recap. The latest book “Halfway to Hollywood” is certainly worth picking up.
Do check out Michael’s website: Palin’s Travels. Which is a great collection of travel stories and Palin related Chat. I don’t know where he’s off to next- one of many questions I would have loved to ask the man. I always thought a nice trip around the UK would suit Palin these days… stuff the Himalayas! Anyway, classic Palin from ’80 Days below:
*the Palin Effect is a condition brought about when one travels with the intention of visiting a place depicted in one of the many, many Palin TV Shows, not that I’d know anything about that. Ahem!
